Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport saw the unveiling of an exhibit on Wednesday, January 16, titled ‘Frank Piasecki and other Polish Aviation Designers’ on the Polish contributions to the U.S. aviation industry. After the opening, the Polish Airlines LOT-operated Boeing 787 ‘Dreamliner’ landed in Chicago.

The Polish aviation exhibit presents, among others, the achievements of Frank Piasecki, a Polish-American engineer who received in 1986 the highest award in the field of technology, the National Medal of Technology, from President Ronald Reagan, and was chosen by the U.S. Army for the U.S. Army Aviation Hall of Fame (as the first Polish-American engineer).

The unveiling of the exhibit was attended by Poland’s Ambassador to the United States Ryszard Schnepf, Polish Consul General in Chicago Paulina Kapuścińska, City of Chicago’s Commissioner of Aviation Rosie Andolino, Vice-President of Boeing for Central and Eastern Europe Henryka Bochniarz as well as the curator of the exhibit from the Kraków Museum of Aviation Dr Krzysztof Mroczkowski.

The exhibit is currently on display in the O’Hare International Airport’s arrivals hall.

The opening of the exhibit started the series of business events that ran in Chicago throughout January 16-18 and were dedicated to promoting Poland-U.S. economic and scientific cooperation.
